What is Floor Screeding?

Floor screeding is a bed of mortar made from sharp concreting sand and ordinary portland cement.

This is firstly mixed, usually with a cement mixer and then transported to the intended screeding area and layed over a prepared slab. It then requires leveling off and the floating to produce a smooth finish over which you will lay your chosen finished flooring.

There are also leytex or self leveling screeding systems available. This type of screed is perfect for providing a final coat to a floor upto around a quarter of an inch thick. An absolute must if you are going to tile a concrete floor.
